Job Description
Key Objective:
As our Casualty Specialist Underwriter, you’ll operate at the core of our underwriting team. Using smart tech, strategic insight, and sophisticated risk analysis to navigate today’s complex liability landscape and deliver winning broker outcomes. This is not manual mode Underwriting!
Key Accountabilities:
- Underwrite new business and renewals for commercial casualty accounts with technical precision and strategic insight
- Assess liability exposures, operations, loss history, and risk controls across Canada.
- Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with brokers using unmatched product knowledge and real-time market intelligence
- Build and maintain strong broker relationships that drive profitable growth and position Forward as a go-to market
- Provide expert underwriting guidance
- Balance disciplined underwriting with creative agility; use your authority to tackle complex risks in innovative ways
- Jump into special initiatives and market challenges when they appear, your adaptability helps the whole team level up

Job Qualifications
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of underwriting experience
- Experience underwriting SME and mid-market accounts.
- Excellent professional written and verbal communication skills, with strong customer service instincts
- Strong computer skills with high proficiency in MS Office; fast, accurate work is critical
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to adapt positively when priorities shift
- Inclusive, transparent, and collaborative mindset with the resilience to thrive under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Successful completion of a criminal record check
- General Insurance License in good standing (or the ability to obtain one within 60 days)
Salary Range: CAD $65,000-$110,000
*Actual pay may be below or above range based on candidates’ knowledge, skills, and level of ability relative to expectations for the role applied to. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are encouraged to apply.

Preference given to applicants with Insurance Industry experience and /or education (CAIB, CIP or other relevant designations).
